Okay, a week ago I was in San Francisco. Enjoying the warm sunshine and…
… well, it was a bit different than today ;)
This post may get a little long, but I think it is worth sharing... so grab some food and a drink.
The journey began in Stuttgart, I had some coffee at the airport and then changed flights in Zurich. And let me tell you, that was the cutest airplane I have ever travelled in. Hello Swiss International Air Lines! Please, next time ask ME to do an illustration for your planes ;)
Twelve hours later I arrived at San Francisco Airport, it was already dark outside and I took a taxi. And took a look into my backpack. And guess what: no wallet!!! You have no idea how I felt. OMG. So the taxi driver (who was just about to leave the airport area) turned around and I was back at the airport. With tears in my eyes… I mean, really… I asked at the Swiss Air Lines counter what was I supposed to do now. I had my passport, my smartphone, but not one dollar (or Euro) in my pockets. They gave me the embassy number, but it was already closed. I tried to call my german bank, but it was out of the office time. Of course, it was like 3:30 am in Germany. I called the hotel (which happily I paid in advance), but they couldn't charge anything to my credit card (so that they could pay my taxi), because they didn't have my information (I booked via Expedia).
A lovely man from the Swiss Air Lines came to me and gave me a twenty dollar bill so I could at least get to the hotel and figure something out. My angel. Really. I had to hug him :D The bus was two dollars (and took about an hour to get to downtown). I paid with the twenty dollar bill and waited for my change. In Germany we get money back, in San Francisco you get in return a nice card charged with the 18 dollar change, so I could travel around with the bus. Well thank you! That was my dinner!
That was the time to call my husband. At 3:45 am Germany time. Poor guy. And best husband ever. He found out that it is possible to transfer money to Western Union and pick it up as cash at any Safeway/Walgreens/… I was so relieved.
I also texted Sue B. and she made it happen, the Creativelive producers paid my taxi the next morning so I could be in time at the studio. I am so thankful to have such nice people in my life.
The next day started way better than the previous one ended. And there was breakfast catering at Creativelive. Haha! Yeah! Finally something to eat.
I felt very welcomed from the first minute. I chatted with some of the other peeps that were in the audience and finally met Sue B. Zimmerman and Rachel in person which felt so good. Then: selfies, selfies, selfies and the recording started.
Sue and all the other speakers did such an amazing job. The course is called "Get social: Connecting your business channels", which is totally my thing as I love being on social media. And not just on one platform as you may know ;)
The speakers covered everything: Periscope- Brian Fanzo, Snapchat/You Tube- Sunny Lenarduzzi, You Tub - Steve Dotto, Facebook- Nathan Latka, Blog- Rebekah Radice, Twitter- AJ Amyx, Instagram- Sue, Pinterest- Jeff Sieh, Photography- Cyrissa/ Immerse Photography and of course: Morgan and Rachel who were both crushing the stage. I mean: can I please take them both home with me?
So, if you are interested in that topic: get the course. It's only 99$ plus you get bonus materials from each speaker.
And then, believe it or not, I was on stage. OMG! How cool is that? I became part of the course because Sue called me to the hot seat. I was super nervous, but she made me feel really comfortable. I so enjoyed it.
I also drew each and every single speaker in my sketchbook. And I have to say: I usually don't draw live. Well, live on Periscope and Blab, but those are random doodles, not real people. But they turned out to be fun, so here they are. Click right/left to see the next ;)
But do you know what was the best? To be there live. To meet everyone. And not only the speakers (I told everyone it felt like being in my Computer, because I knew each of them from my phone or desktop ^^).
The audience, everyone of them was so nice. We chatted, some of us had dinner together and we stay connected.
I even went on Blab with Nina, Sue, Angie and Kerry a day after returning from SF. It was so cool to see some of them again. And guess what, even Sue B. Zimmerman joined the party for a few minutes. If you missed it, go ahead and watch it now. We shared our Creativelive-journey, what we have learned, what we will do or already have done, etc. It was a nice social media talk.
But then, then I had some time to walk around my favorite City San Francisco. And it turned out to become a long walk. I only had this one day and I love walking… referring to my iphone I walked 16 miles that day. My hotel was close to Unio Sqaure, I walked up the hills on Hyde Street, accidently stumbled over Lombard Street (you know, the one with all those curves) and ended up at Fisherman's Wharf. Of course, and although I have seen the sea lions so many times before I just had to go there. Did you follow my being the crazy tourist on Snapchat (byjohannafritz)? I liked to have you all with me ;)
And then I headed along the coast to the Golden Gate Bridge. I so love this Bridge. It was so sunny and warm, I walked down to the water, had some fries and finally arrived at the bridge.
I walked back through the El Presidio Park all the way to Alamo Square. Because I knew the view over SF is beautiful at sunset. And it was. Got there right in time.
And then everything hurt. Haha. OMG. All I wanted was to get back to the hotel, maybe grab some Thai Food to go before. And that's how I ended up. Tired, but happy about this gorgeous day. About this amazing trip to wonderful San Francisco, meeting so many amazing people and have a talk with Sue B.
So even though the trip started with major problems, required a long travel with a nine hour difference because of the time zones and was only for four nights, it was so worth it!! I had to take that chance and am happy I did.
If you really want something: go get it. Do it! Now.
P.S: I got my wallet back. It was at the lost and found at Stuttgart airport :D Happy Ending!
